ABOUT ME!

A NORTHEAST GIRL VIEWING THE WORLD THROUGH A CREATIVE LENSE

I’m a Media and Journalism student at UNC – Chapel Hill, passionate about telling stories that connect people, perspectives and places. Through my work with The Daily Tar Heel and in MEJO 12 1, I’ve explored storytelling through multimedia, from written pieces to infographics and video production.

I’m also especially drawn to photography as a way to tell stories through tiny everyday moments. Whether, I’m designing content, writing stories, or capturing stories through a camera lens I aim to create work that feels authentic and genuine.

This portfolio is a collection of my work and the way in which I see the world!

MY STORY

I am from White Plains, New York!!

One summer, I did a fellowship at the School of the New York Times. We were instructed to write a story about graffiti throughout the city. I came across a mural in a park featured above and became inspired by the woman in the photo – Patti Astor.

This story unraveled my love for journalism!!!

I reached out to multiple sources and acquaintances throughout her life and spent countless hours writing this story.

It became my prized possession!!!

What was to be a conventional piece on street art in New York City transformed into a story about Patti Astor and her friend Anita Rosenberg in the early 1980s. They made their mark as trailblazers in a male-dominated setting. I learned that in 1981, the opening of the FUN gallery that Patti and Anita brought to life was the first to bring graffiti into a gallery space.

In the process I discovered my love for journalism and this inspired me to become a media and journalism major at UNC and join the Daily Tar Heel.
